Livingston County is part of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority in accordance of Act 147 of 1939. Section 119.51 of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority states that the counties of Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston, and Oakland, may join for the purpose of planning, promoting, and acquiring. The authority is involved in; constructing, owing, developing, maintaining and operating parks and limited access highways, as well as connecting drives as may be deemed necessary or convenient to provide access to the property at hand. In accordance with section 119.54, the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority shall be directed and governed by a board of commissioners.
Board Information
This Authority is authorized by MCL 119.51. The County joined this Authority by vote of the electorate. The County Board of Commissioners must “elect” one person to serve on the Authority Board. MCL 119.54.
The term of office for each member of the Board of Commissioners subsequently elected by a County shall be for a term of six (6) years, and the term of office for each Commissioner subsequently appointed by the Governor shall be for a period of four (4) years or until their successors are elected or appointed, in accordance with Act No. 147. Before assuming the duties of office, a Board member shall qualify by taking and subscribing to the constitutional oath of office.
