The Livingston County Building Construction Appeals Board works to ensure buildings are using the corrects codes when being constructed. If the County enforces the State Construction Code through a Building Official, then the County Board of Commissioners must appoint the members of a Building Construction Appeals Board to hear appeals from the Building Official’s denials of permits or interpretations of the Building Code. MCL 125.1514(1).
Board Information
A Construction Board of Appeals is created with not less than 3 nor more than 7 members. Unless otherwise provided by local law or ordinance, the members of the board of appeals shall be appointed for 2-year terms by Livingston County’s Board of Commissioners.
A member of the board of appeals shall be qualified by experience or training to perform the duties of members of the board of appeals. A person may serve on the board of appeals of more than 1 governmental subdivision.
